Agenda:

Description:

In old Sag Harbor style, 30 years ago this summer, the community paraded down to Long Wharf to greet the first shipment of Sag Harbor—The Story of an American Beauty by Dorothy Ingersoll Zaykowski. Her history book continues to be the go-to book for our famous and entertaining history beginning with the foot paths of the Algonquian tribe and extending to the glory days of a harbor alive with whalers and whaling ships, coopers, rope makers, black smiths, and the smell of blubber boiled down in try-pots. In the village, church steeples raised to the heavens, and our Main Street was alive with locals, world travelers, horse and carriages, barbers, shops, hotels, saloons and brothels. Today, in this video, you will meet some folks who have been directly impacted by the book and work of Dorothy Ingersoll Zaykowski.
